As a company passionate about harnessing renewable energy, Mole Energy was incredibly proud to have supported Ocean Warrior’s Foundation Expeditions to the Arctic, and novice explorer, Lucy Reynolds.

Led by renowned explorer Jim McNeill, the expedition team – all dedicated to climate science and the monitoring of the climate and planet pollution – covered thousands of nautical miles on the sailing vessel, The Linden.

Their mission was to set up and test the team’s oceanographic scientific data-gathering abilities.

This was in preparation for the Resolute Expeditions; a long-term programme to measure, benchmark, monitor and record changes in our oceans.

The Resolute Expedition will be departing in June 2024 and the route will be repeated year on year, for at least 10 years, giving scientists the chance to compare vital oceanic data in areas seldom visited.

Exploring over 100,000 nautical miles of extreme and remote ocean they will travel from Svalbard, Norway to Resolute Bay, Canada and back, calling in at Plymouth on route.

Onboard will be key scientists, journalists, naturalists, digital content and film makers, as well as a select number of citizen scientists, all helping the process.

At the helm

Jim McNeill is one of the world’s most respected explorers with 39 years of experience working in the world’s harshest environments. As well as selecting, training and leading expeditions he has worked for the environmental science sector, the military, emergency services and BBC productions including Frozen Planet.

He said: “Having the wholehearted support of Mole Energy is a huge benefit to us and a perfect match with our aims and ethos. We, as humans, are a fundamental part of nature and we need to understand, constantly learn and develop in conjunction with every other species on Earth.” Lucy said: “Foundation Expedition was incredible. Mole Energyís support has meant we’ve been able to test some of our scientific equipment and get to grips with this ship to understand exactly what we can do over the next 10 years”.

For planet and pocket

Every day Mole Energy installs solar PV and battery storage systems for homeowners and businesses wanting to help the planet by reducing CO2 emissions, as well as bills. And we want to help the planet too. Previously we have supported the National Trustís conservation projects in South Devon and in 2023, the pioneering work that Ocean Warrior is undertaking.
