Mole Energy

Running a power-hungry household, managing the everyday energy peaks of domestic life and homeworking, one of our Devon homeowners was ready to explore the options for solar and energy self-sufficiency.

Constant daytime energy use for online access and domestic appliances called for a robust and efficient solar system that could release the family from their spiralling energy bills.

The essential three

Following Mole Energy’s site visit to assess the best options, positions and potential savings, the family invested in a state-of-the-art, REC 365W solar array, a Tesla Powerwall battery and Zappi EV Charger.

Installation of a Tesla Powerwall battery meant the family could store any excess solar energy generated by their array, during the day – to be utilised overnight to charge their electric car, via their Zappi EV charger. The Powerwall will also help the family to manage their energy usage throughout the Winter months too.

The Zappi EV charger, designed to work specifically with solar panels, can be set to eco-mode which ensures that the system waits until sufficient solar-generated energy is available before charging.

The freedom the system has afforded the family is palpable. With some of their family working from home, they can depend on their own solar-generated power to fuel and fulfil their energy needs.
