From Devon to the Big Smoke: Mole Energy at the Octopus Energy Awards

Last week, our Managing Director, Gary Goddard and Operations Director, Charlie Findlay, swapped the peace and quiet of Totnes, Devon, for the hustle and bustle of the capital, heading up to London for the 2025 Octopus Energy Awards.

Held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel on Thursday 3rd April, the awards brought together some of the most forward-thinking minds in the UK energy sector. For Gary and Charlie, both attending for the very first time, it was a proud moment to represent Mole Energy on such an exciting stage.

The event itself was buzzing, with Octopus Energy’s iconic pink branding lighting up the room. A delicious three-course meal set the tone for the evening, and an appearance from football legend Harry Redknapp as the after-dinner speaker gave everyone something to smile about.

Mole Energy was shortlisted for Best Team – a huge honour and a testament to the dedication of every single person behind the scenes. While we didn’t win this time, just being named among the top teams in the country was something worth celebrating. And, according to reports, Gary and Charlie got the celebrations started early with a couple of well-earned ciders on the train to London!

Reflecting on the experience, Charlie said:

Gary, who has long admired the innovative work of Octopus Energy, felt particularly proud to be in a room full of fellow changemakers and energy pioneers.

While we might be based in a quiet corner of the Southwest, moments like this remind us that big things can come from small places. As a team, we’re more motivated than ever to keep pushing boundaries and delivering solar energy with care, commitment, and heart.
