A Unique Space, Fuelled by Community and Sunshine
Just outside Bantham, between Dartmoor and the South Devon coast, sits Outside Devon—a vibrant, multi-use space designed to bring people together. Co-founded by Paddy, this two-acre site is home to a café, pottery studio, surfboard shaping bay, growing area, and a skate bowl. It’s a space where creativity thrives, connections grow, and the outdoors is part of everyday life.
Sustainability at the Centre
With sustainability baked into their ethos, Paddy and the team wanted to find a way to reduce their environmental impact and running costs—while staying true to their creative roots. That’s where Mole Energy came in.
Working closely with Paddy and the team, we installed a tailored solar solution designed to power the space for years to come. The system includes 56 Trina Solar Vertex S all-black panels, paired with a 20kW SIG energy inverter and 16kW of battery storage.
Crucially, the project was supported by Devon County Council’s Green Impact Fund, helping make this cleaner, greener future a reality.
Why Outside Devon Chose Mole Energy
With over 15 years of experience in renewables, Mole Energy was a natural choice for a project this meaningful.
“Mole Energy came highly recommended and they’ve been absolutely brilliant to work with.”
A Brighter Future for a Creative Community
With the new solar and battery system in place, Outside Devon is well on its way to a more sustainable future. Lower running costs, greater energy independence, and a significantly reduced carbon footprint all support their long-term vision.

Pathway to carbon neutrality
Steve and Sally had already installed a 4kW solar panel array on their farmhouse, before turning to Mole Energy, to further expand their energy self-sufficiency plans. Steve said: “With a previous installation already on site, we had experience of solar panels. When we decided to install more, we spoke to a couple of companies, but we chose Mole Energy as they clearly understood the vision we were setting out to achieve.
“Their strong reputation and with prior familiarity with their other installations locally, it meant that we trusted the panels and knew that the service supplied was good. We were very pleased all round. “From the very first discussions regarding the investment and the potential savings, not just in power but also in tax, it was Mole Energy that excelled – and it was the Mole Energy team who we really liked.
